README for snfltpl4, an Excel Flight Planner spreadsheet
This is a flight planner most useful for pilots flying under Visual Flight
Rules (VFR). It allows users to enter waypoints along with distance information
and wind conditions to calculate heading and groundspeed for each leg
of the flight. It also calculates fuel consumption and estimated arrival
times etc. It does great circle calculations and supports the Zulu time
format as well. There are separate sheets for weight and balance, airport
information, navigation and communication frequency information and other
miscellaneous calculations. This version of the spreadsheet is specifically
geared to US timezones and Cessna 152 and Cessna 172 aircraft.
No installation is required. After unzipping the archive, use any version
of Excel greater than 5.0a (Windows) to load the spreadsheet. You can use
it under the Mac as well with similar version release of Excel. In short,
the application is quite independent of the operating system. A formatted
document file accompanies the Excel spreadsheet and this will need Word
for Windows/Mac.
The program is freeware. If you wish to support it a thank-you will
suffice. Please give credit to me if you plan to publish a modified
version of the program and inform me so I can learn from your version
as well.
The program is freely distributable (see above for further comments).
I can be contacted via e-mail:

and my web page is http://www.dsp.net/narayan. The flight planner is also
available from the web site (http://www.dsp.net/narayan/snfltpl4.zip)
Thanks, and I look forward to your comments and suggestions.
